11 years ago, Tierney’s best friend suggested she leave her job she was bored at and pursued her passion of coloring and cutting hair. She’s a native Texan, born in Denton and has now been in Austin for eight years and is still in love with the city. She studied at the Toni&Guy academy in Dallas, Texas and apprenticed/worked for the company for seven years. During her years at Toni&Guy she took several cut and styling classes to further her craft.
After being in Denton, Tierney wanted a change and moved to Austin, Texas. Here she started learning more about color and Men’s styling, taking classes whenever she could. She’s always kept up with any new color technique and always wanting to learn more. Tierney has also worked with several different color and product lines since being in Austin, but specializes in Wella and Joico color intensity for color and Kevin Murphy for products.
Now that she has started working for herself she was just able to do hair for a film that shot her in Austin, done several photo shoots, and has been invited to do hair for events for high end liquor companies. She’s hoping to have more opportunities like this in the future, but truly loves to be in the salon having one on one time with her clients.
Tierney spends her free time knitting, listening to true crime podcasts, making cocktails or drinking wine, playing music, or just hanging with friends. She loves to travel and trying new craft beers. Oh, and enjoys the occasional karaoke night.

Slava is an expert in coloring with 13 years of experience. He is passionate about finding that special color scheme for each of his clients. Slava is painfully aware that hair dyes could be damaging to hair and scalp. As an expert colorist, he prides himself in finding ways to be as gentle as possible and insists on the safest approaches to hair dyeing. This involves gradual and mild iterations, which is why it could take Slava up to 6 hours to take someone from brunette to blonde. His arsenal includes the most advanced highlighting, balayage and shatush technologies and professional products. When a client arrives with dull, brittle or breaking hair caused by chemical, thermal, and mechanical damages, Slava strives to treat it with Olaplex and other moisturizing masks and treatments to ensure that compromised hair is restored. His coloring comes with a breakage insurance!
Born and raised in a small town in foothills of Ural mountains in Russia, Slava started cutting hair as an apprentice in a busy neighborhood salon in 2004 at age of 16. He was trained by stylists with 30 years of experience. By 17 he already had loyal clientele, mostly seniors who paid $1 for their haircuts. He became a barber first, and then left his hometown for the best Academy in Russia in St. Petersburg. He graduated from a world renown Pivot Point Academy at the age 19 with a specialty in coloring. After graduation from the Academy he started to train at the Russian national team of hairdressing and won a 2nd place in the Russian Championship for technical color. He represented Russia at the European Hairdressing Championship where he also came in 5nd in all of Europe in technical coloring. After moving to Moscow, Slava trained, got certified and perfected his techniques at the top European academies: Toni & Guy, Mazella & Palmer, Romeo Felipe and Authentica. He worked for 9 years at a famous Moscow salon that opened in 1956, where all of his clients were regulars that trusted only Slava with their cuts, coloring and blowouts for special occasions.
In 2018 Slava immigrated to the US and settled in Austin. He loves his new home, and has built up a taste for tacos and cold waters of Barton Springs pool. New chapter of his life began at Shag Salon Austin!

After getting my license in 2013, at a TIGI creative school, I moved to Austin Texas and got a job at Toni&Guy. After completing their education program, I specialized in cutting hair. In 2016 I spontaneously married my boyfriend of 6 months and a few months after that moved to San Diego, California. January of 2020, my husband completed his time in the military and we moved back home to Texas. Austin is obviously the best place to live in Texas, so that’s why we decided to make it our home.
After moving back to Texas and only cutting hair for so long, I decided to take an apprenticeship under Michael, one of the co-owners of Shag. During that time I became more confident in my abilities to color hair.
I really enjoy all kinds of haircuts, from long hair to pixies, and undercuts. I also am trying to find my way through what I am really loving about coloring hair and finding something I want to focus on and specialize in. Right now, I enjoy doing everything from a subtle baylage to a classic highlight.
In my personal life, I love being with my husband and my three dogs. I am currently getting my certification for birth doula and after completing that will be getting my postpartum doula certification. That takes a lot of my time but, in my free time, I love to do anything outside. Unless it’s cold out, then I love to do anything inside. :)
